Let’s take a look at what’s happened to one of the worlds leading, privately owned
telecoms businesses since it opened it’s doors in 1998.

1998

Peter Jones CBE starts telecoms Group in April 1998. The Data Select brand was established. Within months the business signed a European contract with Ericsson to become an authorised  partner of all wireless communications products.

1999

Expansys was formed in Manchester and the website www.expansys.com was launched. The business was not part of Peter Jones’ business interests until 2009 when he decided to acquire a small equity stake in the business. He acquired the whole business in March 2014 following a “take private” offer being accepted by the PLC Board.

2000

Data Select signs authorised partnership agreements with Vodafone, Virgin Mobile and Samsung Electronics.

2001

Expansys makes it’s first acquisition buying 21store, a successful consumer e-commerce online store. Data Select signed authorised partner agreements with Motorola, Nokia, Siemens, BT Cellnet (now O2) and One-2-One (now T-Mobile).

2002

Data Select becomes exclusive fulfilment provider for Vodafone’s dealer stores. Expansys enters US market. Data Select wins contract for the development of Sony Ericsson’s e-commerce portal for consumers.

2003

Data Select introduces an “industry first” by developing and introducing an on-line e-commerce solution called Secure Select allowing dealers to order and track the product they require seamlessly. PJ Media, an e-commerce software solutions provider is formed.

2004

PJ Media wins it’s first major contract with Vodafone to build and develop an e-store within www.vodafone.co.uk. Expansys acquires B2B distribution business, Portix in the UK & USA. Data Select signs authorised partner agreements with Samsung, Nokia, and Motorola.

2005

The Group develops and implements e-commerce consumer stores for HTC, Sony and LG. Expansys acquires www.mobileplanet.com in the USA in order to grow it’s market share in the Americas region. Data Select signs authorised partner agreements with 02, T-Mobile, Orange and 3 for the supply of prepaid sim cards and airtime. Data Select designs and builds new handset for Virgin Mobile under the brand name of Lobster.

2006

Data Select establishes Network Services division (DSNS) working closely with the UK Networks to supply prepaid sim cards to the retail market. Expansys acquires www.nomatica.fr and extends it’s on-line presence in EMEA.

2007

Data Select introduces another industry first with PLATINUM CLUB. An annual dealer event showcasing manufacturers products and services to retailers, dealers and B2B customers. Expansys floats on the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange.

2008

Data Select signs agreement with JCB to produce and sell a new rugged mobile phone. Data Select wins landmark deal with Vodafone for indirect distribution. Data Select wins main industry award for Best Distributor at Mobile News awards.

2009

Our founder Peter Jones invests £2m into Expansys PLC. Data Select wins Mobile News Awards for Best Distributor for the second year in a row.

2010

Data Select opens 150,000 sq ft Distribution Centre in Slough, Berkshire. Data Select wins, for the third year in a row, Mobile News Awards for Best Distributor. Expansys PLC acquires sim distributor DSNS and PJ Media for £38m.

2011

Data Select appointed as exclusive Distributor for Panasonic.

2012

Data Select sign agreement with EE and 3 for the supply of consumer airtime to dealers.

2013

The Group wins global e-commerce store solution for Orange.

2014

Expansys PLC is acquired and merged with Data Select. Brandpath Group is formed incorporating Data Select, Expansys, DSNS and PJ Media.
Major e-commerce software agreements signed with Orange and Alcatel along with a major supply chain solution agreement with Google.

2015

Brandpath Group focusses solely on providing e-commerce services and supply chain services. The Group signs major agreements with Samsung, Sony, Alcatel, Huawei, Google & becomes recognised as a market leader in providing e-commerce software solutions and services to global electronics brands.
